Outside of painting, I enjoy many different activities, which include yoga. One morning I was struggling with a yoga position, when suddenly I was shocked by the view from the giant windows in the gym. It was a transitional time in the year, so the trees were losing their leaves but with a plethora of colors. I was so struck by my view that I had totally forgotten about my painful yoga position. I captured the view through pictures and I started to paint after my class. Two months later, experiencing the same discomfort at yoga, I remembered the view I had of the colorful leaves. But this time, my view was full of snow! I followed the same process of capturing the colors and painted my view. These paintings are special because they were inspired in such a spontaneous way, even though these moments were brought about through my daily activity/hobbies. |
