I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to engage with art from multiple perspectives: as an artist, as an instructor, and as a docent. As an artist, I enjoy exploring diverse techniques across a wide variety of themes. In this painting, I captured a snapshot of my daily life. In others, I recreate nature, express the essence of my French culture, or convey the complexities of being bicultural. In my role as an instructor, I have the privilege of interacting with a variety of people and learning from their unique experiences. I put myself in my students' shoes, aiming to help them recapture the joy they first felt when they created something they were proud of. I have witnessed how everyone possesses their own sense of creativity, with unique needs to nurture and expand it. My role is to guide each student in exploring their own creativity. As a docent, I delve into fascinating art history and thoroughly enjoy learning about every aspect of art movements and the lives of specific artists. I learn from the techniques of the old masters and observe how contemporary artists follow trends or break from tradition. This exposure to a diverse range of artistic expressions provides me with an enriching experience that I could never have encountered in my own life. Therefore, when I look at my paint tubes, I see more than just containers of paint. They represent all of my artistic experiences.
